SCHERERVILLE— For children with special needs, traditional Easter egg hunts can be overstimulating.
To ensure children of all abilities are included in Easter festivities, Logan's Love will be hosting its second annual Easter Sensory Egg Hunt on Mar. 30 at Redar Park, located at 218 Gregory St. in Schererville.
Registration for the free event will begin at 10:30 a.m. (To register online visit www.zeffy.com).
The egg hunt will be held from 11 a.m. until noon. In case of inclement weather, registrants will be notified of an alternate location.
Logan's Love was created last year by Nicole Reveliotis to honor the loss of her son, Logan Ruiz. Ruiz was a 10-year-old boy with autism who died in a train accident on Aug. 27, 2022. He was completely nonverbal and experienced elopement, a side effect of autism causing children to wander away from caregivers or secure locations.

To raise awareness for children with special needs, Logan's Love has hosted an autism walk and collected donations to provide first responders across the Region with Ben's Blue Bags.
Ben’s Blue Bags were founded by Crown Point Fireman Matt Kodicek, whose son has autism. The bags include various sensory items first responders can use to help communicate with individuals who have autism or special needs. An inventory sheet is also provided in each bag so officers know what items need to be replaced after being utilized during a call.
The nonprofit is continuing to collect Ben’s Blue Bags to be distributed to every police department in Lake County. To sponsor a bag or make a donation, visitwww.zeffy.com.
For questions regarding the egg hunt, people can contact Reveliotis at 219-805-0750.
