Tuesday, June 4, 2002 Vitals Advocate 5 Daily Obituaries Mary McClain Mary L. McClain, 82, 246 Hickory Drive, Greenville, died at 3 p.m. June 2, 2002, at her residence. She was born Oct. 17, 1919, in Richland Township, daughter of Jesse and Minnie (Katherman) Lewis.

Also deceased are her husband, Dr. D.W. McClain (Feb. 26, 1984); a brother, George Lewis; and a sister, Opal Pearl. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are a son, Randolph "Randy" McClain of Columbus; and two sisters, Bernice Urquart of Englewood and Betty and Lynn Hole of Versailles. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memory Gardens, Greenville, with the Rev. Art Pavelski officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

There will be no visitation. Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Darke County Cancer Association. William Oehrtman William E. Oehrtman, 83, died June 2, 2002, in Orlando, Fla.

Originally from Greenville and a resident of Orlando since 1942, Mr. Oehrtman was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during World War II. He was a founding member and member of the board of directors of CFPCU and founder and international hall of fame member of SPEBSQSA. He retired from the U.S.

Postal Service as manager of stations and branches. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the choir. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma; four brothers; and one sister. Surviving are his son, William E. Oehrtman Jr.

and daughter-in-law Peggy of Orlando; grandchildren, Kristina and Kellie Oehrtman; and sisters, Marlene Freud of Van Lois Weaver of Troy and Eileen Shoemaker of Bradford. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 123 E. Livingston Orlando, with burial following in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Betty Ann Harsh; and two brothers, Ernest and Pascal Harsh. He worked for Dealer's Transit in Union City, for 30 years retiring in 1982. Mr. Harsh was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 158 and the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Union City. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maxine (Price) Harsh; one daughter, Maxine K. Randall Seelbrede Randall S. Seelbrede, 55, Ashland, has died. Mr. Seelbrede graduated from Greenville High School in 1964 and Ohio State University in 1968. As an earth science major, he worked for the U.S.

Department of Agriculture for 30 years, specializing in soil and water conservation in Michigan and Oregon. He worked for the Natural Resources Conservation Service. Throughout his career, he did volunteer work for private sectors and was a member of the Nature Conservancy Agency. He was the son of Herbert and June Seelbrede Cleveland, and formerly of Greenville. He was a brother to Kimberly Seelbrede Cole of New York City and Melanie Seelbrede Bowen of Cleveland.

Hall, 78, 419 U.S. 36, Greenville, died June 2, 2002, at Dayton Veterans Administration Medical Center after a long illness. He was born Feb. 1, 1924, in Witt Spring, to Robert and Nell (Blackwell) Hall. He retired after working 16 years for Magaw Construction, was retired from the U.S.

Army and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Richard Markham Richard H. Markham, 69, 222 Hickory Drive, Greenville, died at 1:29 p.m. May 31, 2002, at his residence. Born Aug. 16, 1932, in Minnesota, he was the son of George and Marjorie (Ketchum) Markham as well as his stepfather, William Elton.

His parents and stepfather preceded him in death. Mr. Markham was retired from Preferred Plastics of Greenville, but had recently worked part-time at the Darke County YMCA. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Markham was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Greenville, the Greenville American Legion, Greenville Elk's Lodge, a former member and past president of the Greenville Country Club, as well as an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. (Warner) Markham of Greenville; son, Kent Markham of Greenville; daughter, Linda Wallace of Greenville; a stepson, Keith Bellor of Davison, grandchildren, Jennifer Suter Suter; brother and sister-in-law, George and May Markham of Joplin, Mo. Man sentenced to six months for activiting a water sprinkler Ralph E. Bailey, 26, was sentenced in Darke County Common Pleas Court Monday morning to six months in prison for activating a water sprinkler while an inmate at the Darke County Jail. Assistant Prosecutor Phillip Hoover said Bailey was an inmate at the jail Oct. 31, 2001, when he activated the sprinkler, causing about 25 gallons of water per minute to flow into his cell.
